I’ve been editing since 1995, helping clients say what they want to say, in the way they want it said.
Services include project coordination, developmental editing, substantive/content editing, copyediting, proofreading, nonfiction writing, Web content, and research.
I’m a member of the Northwest Independent Editors Guild and the Editorial Freelancers Association, and I teach in the University of Washington Editing Certificate Program.
My clients are print and online, corporate and nonprofit, trade and scholarly book publishers, magazines and journals, artists and authors. Chicago, MLA, APA, CBE/CSE, AP styles applied as appropriate.
In previous incarnations, I’ve been a backcountry ranger, bookseller, itinerant housepainter, community organizer, loan officer, small-business mentor, car-free vagabond, and long-distance cyclist—all in all, enjoying my always eclectic, never boring life!

—Margaret Wheeler, co-author, Backcountry Skiing (Mountaineers, 2008)
Thank you for doing such a wonderful job editing Offending Women. It is never easy to have someone change our words, but you did such excellent work that it was enjoyable to go through the text and see how much you improved it.
—Lynne Haney, author, Offending Women: Power, Punishment, and the Regulation of Desire (University of California Press, 2010)
This looks great—you have done a fantastic job with all of the research and cultural conversion!
—Dana Youlin, acquisitions editor for Live Generously: 50 Small Acts That Make a Big Difference (Skipstone, 2008)
A good editor makes sound decisions, works independently with confidence, and stays within budget. This is why you’re one of my most reliable and preferred editors.
—Mary Ribesky, (former) assistant managing editor, University of Washington Press
